FireBox, out of the box comes with an anti-spam protection called “Honeypot” which protects your forms against spam.

 ## What’s Honeypot?

A honeypot might sound like something sweet, but it’s not about cute bears or honey. In the world of forms, a honeypot is a hidden field designed to trap spammers, much like honey attracts flies. This field is added to forms and triggers a failure if anything is entered into it.

Most spam submissions come from automated bots programmed to fill out every field they find. Since bots can’t distinguish a honeypot field from a regular one, they end up filling it out, causing the form submission to fail.

 ## Where can I find the Honeypot option?

Each FireBox form has the Honeypot anti-spam protection enabled by default. To disable It, edit your FireBox form > Behavior > toggle “Enable Anti-Spam Honeypot.”

Honeypots are trusted tools used by web security experts worldwide. With FireBox’s built-in honeypot feature, you can easily block most form spam.

 ## Troubleshooting

 ### Why do I get an error saying “Honeypot field triggered” when I try to submit the form?

This error message may sometimes appear when a visitor pre-populates the form fields using the browser’s built-in auto-fill feature or a third-party browser extension.

While we take every measure possible to prevent this behavior, this error may appear and the only workaround is not to use auto-fill. Assuming you have these browser extensions disabled in incognito mode, using incognito, you shouldn’t have this issue.

Lastly, you can always [turn off Honeypot](https://www.fireplugins.com/docs/forms/security/honeypot-anti-spam-protection/#honeypot_setting) if the issue persists.
